make a contribution, purchase a “Producer Credit”, or participate in community governance voting.

Data points: Payment amount, date, currency and payment method
(e.g. payment provider / transaction ID).
Important: We do not store your full credit card number.
All financial transactions are processed by third-party payment processors (such as Stripe or PayPal)
who comply with PCI-DSS security standards.
C. Technical & Usage Data
Collected when: You browse the website.
Data points: IP address, browser type, device type, time zone setting and pages visited.
We use this data to secure the site and to analyze traffic and usage.
D. “Producer” & Voting Data
Collected when: You participate in the “One Euro Journey” social experiment and community voting.
Data points: Your unique Producer Number (e.g. #4,502), your voting history on shelter nominations,
and your milestone tracking status.
4. How and Why We Use Your Data
We only use your data when the law allows us to. The main purposes and legal bases are:
- To process your €1 contribution and deliver your Producer Credit
Data used: Identity, contact, transactional / financial data
Legal basis: Performance of a contract (fulfilling your purchase or contribution). - To display your Producer Credit on the Transparency Dashboard (if you opt in)
Data used: Identity (Display Name), Producer Number
Legal basis: Your consent. - To manage accounting and taxes (e.g. VAT reporting in Estonia)
Data used: Identity, financial and transactional data
Legal basis: Legal obligation under Estonian tax and accounting law. - To send you project updates (milestone alerts, voting invitations, important changes)
Data used: Contact data (email address)
Legal basis: Your consent (newsletter or marketing) or our legitimate interest
in sending necessary transactional updates related to your contribution. - To enable community voting and keep it fair (e.g. avoiding duplicate votes)
Data used: Technical data, identity data (often pseudonymised or hashed)
Legal basis: Legitimate interest in ensuring fair and transparent voting. - To protect our website and services (fraud prevention, security and abuse detection)
Data used: Technical and usage data
Legal basis: Legitimate interest in maintaining network and information security.
5. Public Visibility & the Transparency Dashboard
A core feature of The One Euro Journey is our public Transparency Dashboard.
- Financial aggregates: We publish total revenue, expenses and donations publicly.
This data is aggregated and does not identify you personally. - Producer Credits: If you choose to list your name during checkout,
your chosen Display Name and Producer Number will be visible on the public website. - Anonymity: You can remain anonymous. If you select “Anonymous” at checkout,
your name will not appear publicly, although we must still retain certain details internally
for tax and accounting purposes.
6. Sharing Your Data
We do not sell your personal data. We only share it with trusted third parties when necessary to operate our services:
- Payment processors: Stripe, PayPal or similar services that process payments on our behalf.
- Email service providers: e.g. Mailchimp / MailerLite (to send newsletters and project updates).
- Hosting & infrastructure: Our web hosting provider and related technical services.
- Legal authorities: Estonian Tax and Customs Board (EMTA) and other authorities
when required by law for accounting, VAT and compliance.

We operate from Estonia (EU/EEA). Some of our service providers (for example certain payment or email services)
may be located outside the EEA, such as in the USA.
When we transfer data outside the EEA, we use appropriate safeguards such as

Data Privacy Framework (DPF), where applicable, to ensure an adequate level of protection.

We keep your personal data only for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes we collected it for,
including satisfying any legal, accounting or reporting requirements.
- Tax and accounting records: Under Estonian law we must keep transaction records
for 7 years. - Marketing data: We keep your email address for newsletter and update purposes
until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it.
